New version of PictoDroid Lite v2.1.6

Some users have asked us for a safe mode, so that if  the user tries to leave the application by pressing any of the system buttons, PictoDroid Lite will automatically run again in foreground. It is necessary to activate this mode in the settings beforehand. To get out of it you need to press the following sequence: first picto in the screen, first picto in the screen, back button, first picto in the screen and back button.

New version of MessageTTS v1.1.4

Following some users suggestions this version allows to edit the line you’re typing by positioning the cursor at any desired location. This feature can be enabled or disabled in the menu with the Enable\Disable Cursor option.

PictoDroid Head Lite, Finalist for Best Master Thesis with Free Software Awards

PictoDroid Head Lite, control via head movements

We are happy to release our new application. PictoDroid Head Lite is a version of PictoDroid Lite that can be controlled by head movements. To use it you need to install OpenCV Manager application.

Turning your head right, it will select the pict to the right. Turning it left, the pict to the left. Facing down, the current pict is selected, and an upward movement will simulate the button “back”.

New version of MyKeyboDroid v.1.1

Following some users suggestions this version can delete all written text without deleting it letter by letter or syllable by syllable. To do this just keep pressed the delete button. We have also corrected some bugs in this version.

Dissemination of the proyect

Recently we have focused our efforts on disseminating our project, Accegal, in different forums. Let us show you some of the places where we have presented it.

In March we gave the workshop “Augmentative and Alternative Communication in mobile devices” in the Second Meeting on Social Responsibility organized by the Social Technology Foundation (F_T_S) held at the E.U.I.T.T. Polytechnic University of Madrid. In the following video you can see our complete workshop (in Spanish).

In May we participated in the II Conference of the Por Dereito association held in Pontevedra. You can find pictures and the presentation (in Spanish) here.

Also in May we participated in the Technology Conference and Design for All: Visions for Architecture and Digital Home organised as part of the Master of Digital Home Automation given at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. In the following video you can see our presentation (in Spanish).

As part of this task, in early November we will participate in the Third Congress of Technologies for Diversity in Galician Education 2013 organised by the association TADEGA to be held in Santiago. We encourage everyone to come and see our work.

MyKeyboDroid: our new application

We are happy to present you today our new application. MyKeyboDroid is a text-to-speech based on a dynamic keyboard. It allows people physically impared writing and speaking. It also facilitates the acquisition of literacy skills by young children or with difficulties. By default it has a QWERTY keyboard and an optimized keyboard with most frequent letters easily clickable. It also allows two types of writing: syllabic and letter by letter.

Use our apps in a PC

We have recently received great news. With the software “BlueStacks” Android can run on our PC, and as Google Play has been added, our applications can be installed and use in a PC. To do this you simply need to download the software at http://www.bluestacks.com/, have a Gmail account to download applications from the Google Play, and follow a few clear steps.

In case you want to access the “sdcard” in this software is made through a file explorer, as can be ASTRO (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.metago.astro&hl=es). In case you want to add, modify, etc.., any file of our applications (Picts. Xml, etc.), in its own “sdcard” there is a folder named “bstfolder” containing data from our PC, such as documents , images, etc., through which information can be exchanged between the software and the PC itself. This way, you can also install applications that are not available in Google Play.

Mac users may experience, sometimes, problems installing applications from Google Play, but we have found the solution in the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxhHjKIA0g4. Should you have any question, do not hesitate to contact us.

New version of PictoDroid Lite v2.1.5

Accegal team has visited Aceesa (Special Education Regional Association of Holy Christ of Love) to assess whether our applications were suitable to a user of this center. During testing we found that the user had trouble selecting Picts in PictoDroid Lite, to correct this problem we added the possibility of selecting the pictogram by pressing and releasing, in addition to the existing one of pressing only.

We’ve uploaded to Google Play and our web new PictoDroid Lite version:
